CENTRE ST.—Sometime today, May 30, if all goes according to plans announced earlier this week, Sweet Christopher’s Dessert Cafe at 601 Centre St. will officially have a new owner.
“By next week, I will be the proud new owner of a café,” Joe Naczas said on Tuesday.
He and current owner Ben Lem, who opened the business about a year-and-a-half ago, were working side by side on Tuesday, as they said they would most of the week, so Lem could show Naczas some of the fine points of running the place.
Negotiations with owner Stavros Frantzis regarding Naczas getting a lease on the space were completed over Memorial Day weekend.
“I’m glad it turned out the way it did,” Lem, who agreed to some stipulations from Frantzis, said. Lem said he is planning to move to California next year, and his lease was set to expire in July.
Naczas said the name of the café will remain the same.
