The fates of two storefronts at prominent locations on Centre Street are still unclear, although the larger of the two might soon be leased to a discount retailer.
The two storefronts—the 6,330-square-foot former Foot Locker space at 678 Centre St. and the 2,664-square-foot Countrywide Home Loans office at 708 Centre St.—have been on the market since August.
Lynn Cohen-Friedman of KeyPoint Partners, the commercial real estate firm responsible for leasing the proper-ties, said she is in negotiations with a “local discount-related chain” interested in leasing the former Foot Locker space. She declined to name or further clarify the nature of the interested business. Previously she had told the Gazette a mattress store was interested in the space.
She said she is hopeful the deal will be closed with the mystery discounter within a couple of weeks.
There are currently no prospective tenants for the former Countrywide office, she said.
Joan Canzano owns both of the properties.
