For the third year, we celebrated a very successful “Countdown to Kindergarten Day” party on Aug. 23. Over 80 children entering kindergarten this fall and their families were treated to an evening of fun activities, dinner and gift bags. The staff and Friends of the Connolly Branch Library extend thanks to the generous volunteers and local businesses that contributed to this event.

Our sincerest appreciation to Countdown to Kindergarten, Zesto’s Pizza and Grille, Captain Nemo’s Subs and Pizza, El Oriental de Cuba, Sorella’s Restaurant, Peter J. Hanley, D.M.D., Hi Lo Foods, La Casa de los Regalos, WIC, Arnold Arboretum, Department of Conservation and Recreation, WGBH, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Public Health Commission, New England Aquarium, Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts, Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center, Centre Street Dental, Mass. Dental Society, Museum of Science, Franklin Park Zoo, the Video Underground, Ultra Beauty Salon, Volunteers of America, media partners El Mundo newspaper and Niños del Siglo magazine and volunteers Nereida Martinez, Maryetta Dussourd, Lisa Ganack, Maria Nuñez and Yoelis Peña.

We invite the community to join us on Fri., Oct. 29 at 3:30 p.m. for our annual Halloween Party and Parade through Hyde Square. The generous support of local businesses and organizations is what makes our community thrive. We welcome the opportunity to continue these vibrant partnerships.
