Whole Foods a positive change

I myself welcome Whole Foods in my neighborhood.

I believe Whole Foods will bring a lot of positive and good things to Jamaica Plain: hopefully the betterment of the economy and safety by bringing more customers to the neighborhood, and more eyewitnesses to watch for any crime.

Hopefully, they will make it a priority to hire local people first, and allow the local farmers to sell their goodies at the store, and hopefully the store could allow local artists to be able to display their art on the store wall.

  • Personally, I would prefer to get local groceries of every kind, but there's only so much that the farmers' markets and City Feed can provide. A Whole Foods would help supply higher quality products at somewhat reasonable prices. I don't know of any large scale local grocery that can provide the same things. Certainly not Stop & Shop or Star or even Shaws. Whole Foods is very non-local when it comes to produce, but that's easily available at the farmers markets. But for a variety of things, the level of convenience that Whole Foods will provide will make it a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Also, Whole Foods will raise property rates for all the homeowners and permanent resident in JP, which definitely improves the neighborhood and rewards those who make the biggest investments in and commitments to the neighborhood.
