Teen charged with firing gun during chase

A Jamaica Plain youth was held on $100,000 bail after being charged with firing an unlicensed handgun while being chased by police last month.

According to a press release, Boston Police were in the area of Academy Homes in Jackson Square at midday Sept. 9 when they saw Tyre Wade, 19, touching the area around his waistband.

After being approached by police, Wade allegedly ran away from police. While being chased, Wade allegedly removed a gun from his waistband and fired a shot before tossing the gun into a parking lot.

Wade was arraigned on a nine-count complaint charging him with unlawful possession of a semiautomatic weapon, among other offenses. In light of a 2009 conviction for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, for which he served two years in jail, Wade was charged as a level 1 armed career criminal.

Wade is also barred from returning to the area in which he was arrested, bordered by Columbus Avenue, Washington Street, Marcella Street and Highland Street.
