The Galway House will host the “muckball” trophy for another year after beating three other local businesses in the annual fund-raiser softball tournament on Sept. 24 at Franklin Park.

Named for founder Brian “Mucky” Manning of Jamaica Plain’s American Legion Post 76, the muckball tournament raises funds for the Post’s Christmas party for seniors. It has run for six years, Manning told the Gazette.

The Galway House, a restaurant and bar at 710 Centre St., beat teams fielded by the Post, Costello’s Tavern and the Jeanie Johnston Pub. It’s the second championship in a row for the Galway House.
