Romney gets primary win

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the state’s Republican Party presidential primary vote on March 6.

Incumbent President Barack Obama was the only Democrat on his party’s ballot.

The Green-Rainbow Party ballot-winner was still unclear as the Gazette went to press, though it appeared likely that Jill Stein would top the ballot, according to party spokesperson Isabel Espinal. Unlike the Democratic and Republican parties, the small Green-Rainbow Party does not have the resources to do its own vote tally. Official results for all parties likely will be posted on the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s website this week (sec.state.ma.us).

Espinal and Secretary of State’s Office spokesperson Brian McNiff both told the Gazette that major media did a poor job of notifying voters that the primary election included a competitive contest on the Green-Rainbow ticket.

The U.S. presidential election will be held on Nov. 6.
