The work consists of porcelain hands on rods suspended from wires inside the At Home Gallery—a former synagogue—as an expression of reaching across symbolic spaces. Safford, who traveled to the Central European nation to install the piece, met the gallery owners at last year’s Boston Transcultural Exchange Conference.
