Boston Main Streets and Mayor Thomas Menino last week honored the “businesses of the year” and “volunteers of the year” from the city’s Main Streets organizations. Main Streets are city-affiliated nonprofits that promote local businesses and historic preservation.

The winners from Jamaica Plain’s three local Main Streets organizations, announced May 17 at the Strand Theatre in Dorchester, are:

Egleston Square: Latino Beauty Salon, business of the year; Hannah Thomas, volunteer of the year.

Hyde/Jackson Square: Crystal Fruit, business of the year; Jason LaGorga, volunteer of the year.

JP Centre/South: Canary Square, business of the year; Caleb Hannon, volunteer of the year.
