Locals complete college prep program

Two Jamaica Plain middle-school students are heading into top schools this fall after graduating The Steppingstone Academy college prep program. And another two local Steppingstone grads are heading to college.

Elyas Egal enters Boston Latin Academy and David Meneses-Ontiveros heads to the Fenn School in Concord after graduating the Steppingstone program on Aug. 11.

Meanwhile, Steppingstone graduates Allyah Harris and Cassandra Vickers are both entering the University of Pennsylvania.

The Steppingstone Academy, run by The Steppingstone Foundation, is a 14-month program that prepares underserved students for exam school or private academies, and eventually for college. It boasts a 99 percent high school graduation rate and 91 percent four-year college enrollment rate for students in its programs. For more info, see tsf.org.
