Hair salon reopens

CENTRAL JP—Amp Hair Studio at 482 Centre St. is back in business after being shut down by the state earlier this month for operating without a license, according to owner Aura Peguero.

“I have my license and we’re open,” said Peguero today.

The state Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation could not immediately confirm that the license had been issued.

Peguero opened the salon in April 2012, but failed to get the proper license. Peguero holds a valid personal license to be a hairdresser, according to the state.

Besides women’s styes, Amp does men’s and children’s cuts. It also does highlights and specializes in hair extensions. The salon offers some specials on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Amp’s hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, call 917-231-5466 or 617-477-3135.
