The highly competitive mayoral race is already sparking long overdue discussions on many City issues. One of the best benefits is simply hearing from leaders of neighborhoods that don’t often share their experiences.
In recent issues of the Gazette, you’ve heard from candidates who are important leaders in Dudley Square and Dorchester. Whether any or none of them wins the Mayor’s Office, they have ideas and experiences that could be useful to Jamaica Plain. Likewise, they can bring JP’s experiences back to their neighborhoods.
It is often said that Boston is a city of neighborhoods. The unspoken addition is, “Neighborhoods that rarely talk to each other.” This race is a great chance to meet our neighbors and learn new ways of working together for both local and citywide benefit.
