FOREST HILLS—The Boston Redevelopment Authority board on Oct. 17 approved The Commons at Forest Hills project at 3593-3615 Washington St.
The project will create 283 units, including 40 affordable-housing units. The developers, John M. Corcoran and Company and The Brennan Group, had originally planned 280 units, with 37 affordable-housing units.
For 100 years, the approximately 3-acre site was used as a petroleum product distribution depot for former owner Hughes Oil. Environmental cleanup of the soil is nearing completion, according to the developers.
Construction is expected to begin spring 2014.
