JP man charged with gun possession

FOREST HILLS—A traffic stop on Forest Hills Street led police to arrest a Jamaica Plain man on charges of illegally carrying a handgun on Jan. 31.

Officers investigating gang and firearm crimes allegedly saw a car speeding on Lamartine Street that day, and observed it honking and swerving around pedestrians as they followed it, according to the Boston Police Department. The driver allegedly did not immediately stop when the officers activated their lights and siren. In the area of 297 Forest Hills St., the officers blocked the car with their police cruiser.

The passenger in the car, Dominique L. Hines, 24, allegedly had a 9mm handgun stuck into his waistband. After a “brief struggle,” according to BPD, Hines was arrested and charged with dangerous weapon unlawfully carried and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The driver was cited for speeding and failure to yield to pedestrians.
