Video store finds new home in Egleston Sq.

EGLESTON SQ.—New Video Underground owner Kevin Koppes has found a new home for JP’s video rental store at 3203 Washington St. in Egleston Square. The store’s new doors will open May 15.

“We’re very much looking forward to a fresh start in Egleston Square while maintain the connections to JP we’ve enjoyed over the years,” Koppes said in an email. “While we’re now going to be closer to the edge than the heart of Jamaica Plain, I’m hoping we can remain a fixture and a resource for the community going forward.”

Koppes bought the majority share of the Video Underground, now located at 358 Centre St., in February, from previous owner Josiah Simmons after Simmons announced the store would be closing.

“We have nothing but thanks and appreciation for those of you who have either assisted us in our quest to keep things going or helped spread the word about our current and future plans,” he said.

A Domino’s Pizza franchise had been looking at the Egleston Square location before Video Underground came along.

The Video Underground’s website is thevideounderground.com.
