National Grid will be digging up part of Centre Street in Hyde Square starting this week to replace natural gas pipes—a project that will last four to six months. When that work is done, the Boston Water and Sewer Commission will do its own repairs in the same area.
The work will affect the southern side of Centre between Sheridan and Wise streets. It will happen during the day. There will be no traffic closures, but on-street parking will be restricted.
A National Grid spokesperson gave the Gazette the expected timeline of the natural gas pipe project and said similar upgrades will eventually come to other parts of JP, but are not slated yet.
