Hyde Sq. speed hump to return

A speed hump that was removed in Hyde Square last year will be reinstalled this fall, according to Tracey Ganiatsos of the Boston Transportation Department (BTD).

Resident Erik Berg recently complained about the removal of the 70 Day St. speed hump, as the Gazette previously reported. The hump was one of several that were installed in the Hyde Square area about 15 years ago as part of a traffic-calming pilot program.

“It appears that one of the utility companies needed to perform work in the vicinity of 70 Day St. that required removing pavement, including at the location of the speed hump,” said Ganiatsos in an email to the Gazette. “The Boston Public Works Department has verified with BTD that the roadway will be repaved this fall and the speed hump will be reinstalled at that time.”
