Carlos B. Icaza, of Jamaica Plain, died Aug. 16, 2014, following a short illness.

Icaza, born April 11, 1950, was the beloved husband of Shelley Norton Icaza and best Poppy of Elizabeth Icaza (Giovanni) Poles. Carlos is survived by Shelley and Elizabeth, his brothers David H. (Jean) Icaza and Peter S. (Mony) Icaza; nephews Jimmy, Robby, Michael, Ethan and Eric; and nieces Melissa and Erinn. Gramps of Stephen Cronin. Union carpenter and president of Just Small Jobs, Inc.

Icaza connected people and ideas, loved and supported all of his communities of friends and worked hard to make it better for others. He believed in adverbs, his faith, and his dog (not so much the cat). He shared his many gifts and talents. He made a difference.

His memorial was held at the Parish of All Saints, in Dorchester, on Aug. 23. Memorial gifts can be sent to Community Servings, 18 Marbury Terrace, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130, or via servings.org.
