BPD: Man pulled knife on fake cop

A bizarre situation unfolded in the early morning hours of April 3 at a JP convenience store with a suspect allegedly pulling a knife on a man claiming to be an undercover police officer, according to the Boston Police Department.

The encounter allegedly began inside the Tedeschi Market at 684 Centre St. with the victim approaching the suspect. He claimed to be an undercover police officer and said, “You blew my cover.” The victim is not an officer, according to BPD. The suspect alleged followed the victim outside the store, where he threw a soda at him and threatened him with a knife.

An officer from Jamaica Plain’s District E-13 Police Station came upon the two men about to fight. The victim approached the officer, while the suspect, Edward Hurtado of Roxbury, placed his hands on his head. Hurtado was arrested and faces charges of assault by means of a dangerous weapon.
