Zoning Comm. OK’s South St. renovation project

The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council’s Zoning Committee approved in February a developer’s plan to turn a house at 67 South St. into condominiums, according to chair Dave Baron.

He said there was no opposition to the plan at the meeting.

The developer, Liam Lydon, said in an email to the Gazette he plans to renovate the building—which is currently zoned for one family and a business—into four condominiums. Each unit would have a parking space. Lydon said construction would take about seven to eight months.

A business, Jamaica Plumbing & Heating, was located at the South Street building, but a phone number for it is no longer in service. It is unclear if any family currently lives there.
