Faulkner shuttle buses to end soon

The bright-yellow hospital shuttle buses that have drawn attention on Centre Street in recent months are for employee training and will end next week.

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital has been running the shuttles between its 1153 Centre St. campus in Jamaica Hills and a Downtown Crossing employee-training location, according to hospital spokesperson David Goldberg.

Up to 12 rented shuttles per day have plied Centre Street since March and will end service on May 29, Goldberg said. Several residents contacted the Gazette with questions about the purpose of the 50-seat buses and their impact on local traffic.

Goldberg said that he did not know whether any community outreach had been done before the shuttles starting running. He also said he did not know whether any other route had been considered.
