Neighborhood group forms in Parkside

A new neighborhood association, Parkside Neighborhood Association (PNA), has formed and held its first meeting on Dec. 1. The group will meet every other month to share information, meet neighbors, and work together to address community issues, according to a press release.

Jamaica Plain homeowners and renters who live between Iffley Road, Glen Road, Walnut Street, and Washington Street are invited to attend meetings. Any residents not currently in a neighborhood association and living on or near Forest Hills Street between Green Street and Williams Street are also invited to attend.

Many pressing issues were identified and discussed at the Dec. 1 meeting including gentrification and development, affordability, traffic, litter, open space, diversity, and crime. Attendees came to a consensus that the Parkside neighborhood should be better represented and organized at the local, City Council, and mayoral level.

The next meeting will be on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. on Glade Avenue. For questions and directions to the meeting, email Reva Levin at [email protected].
