The Slow Streets program

In regard to your article of January 29th: “BTD to present Slow Streets program during SNA meeting” I’d like to clarify one statement made by Ms. Ganiatsos. She is partially correct in stating that this is “the only meeting BTD has scheduled for presenting the program.” However, we have the understanding that there will be a public process around the decision-making that results in traffic-calming measures in Stonybrook.

As traffic co-chair for the SNA, and having attended the walk-through of a neighborhood with BTD on Nov. 24th, I’m the SNA steering committee member coordinating with BTD to speak to the SNA on February 8th.

BTD’s presentation will be an introduction of Slow Streets to a wider audience than those able to attend the November walk-through. It is not a presentation of traffic calming measures to be enacted in Stonybrook; no measures have yet been proposed. Rather, attendees will have the opportunity for input.

We’re pleased to be working with BTD on Slow Streets in finding creative and innovative solutions to ongoing traffic pressure in our neighborhood.
