JP resident arrested on drug, gun charges

Officers patrolling the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments on July 2 arrested a 23-year-old male on drug and gun charges, according to bpdnews.com.

Officers on the Youth Violence Strike Force were at the housing development at about 9:10 p.m. on July 2 near 934 Parker St. The officers were speaking to a group when 23-year-old Andre Raper of Jamaica Plain walked out of an apartment with a small bag of marijuana and put it in his pocket when he saw the police, according to bpdnews.com.

The officers later determined that Raper was about to sell drugs to a member of the group. They performed a pat frisk of Raper, finding an ounce of marijuana and several bags packaged for sale. After being placed in custody, he told the officers there were more drugs inside the apartment and a gun. The suspect consented to a search of his apartment and helped the officers recover five more ounces of marijuana and the gun.

Raper is being charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute class D drugs.
