The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council (JPNC) will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 23 at 7:00pm at Farnsworth House, 90 South Street. On the agenda will be a presentation from State Representative Liz Malia. Also on the agenda will be reports from the Working Committees. All interested residents are invited to attend.

District E-13 Police Public Meetings, The quarterly Neighborhood Advisory Committee meeting will be on Tues. Jan. 16 at 6:30pm at 3347 Washington St.

JP Zoning Committee, Jan. 17 at Farnsworth House.  The agenda for that meeting will include 71-73 Brookley Road (subdivide existing 8886 square foot lot into 4422 lot with existing three-family residence and 4464 vacant lot), 18 Marbury Terrace (Community Servings seeks to combine 15,408 square foot lot and 33,998 square foot lot and construct 17,000 square foot addition to existing building for catering/kitchen use; renovate 8,000 square feet in existing building; site work, landscaping, and grading), and the return of 26 Bardwell Street (construct new rear addition to existing three-family residential dwelling; construct dormers and exterior decks with egress stairs; create three off-street parking spaces.).  After Jan. 17, the Committee’s next upcoming meetings will be Feb. 7 and Feb. 21.

The Housing and Economic Development Committee of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council (JPNC) will meet Tues. Jan. 16 at 7 pm at the Bowditch School, 82 Green Street. parkrun is a grassroots, community running event, run by volunteers for the local running and walking community. We hold free timed 5k events every week.  Everyone is invited to run, jog or walk for 5k (two laps around the pond). We are very proud to be the first parkrun in Boston, MA. Its

been a very successful initiative for getting people of all ages outside to exercise, and to meet members of their local community. We meet on

Saturdays at 8:45am at the top of the Sugarbowl. Run starts at 9:00am.

Announcements

Bucknell University has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2017-18 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition. Eunyque Sykes, Class of 2018 from Jamaica Plain, MA and Evan Thomson, Class of 2020 from Jamaica Plain, MA to attend.

Students at Lehigh University attained Dean’s List in Fall 2017. This status is granted to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses. The following local students earned Dean’s List status for the Fall 2017 semester: Ruby Eisenbud of Jamaica Plain and Thomas Parker of Jamaica Plain.
