Event will honor state Rep. Sanchez

An event will be held at the Footlight Club on Dec. 13 to honor state Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez and the work he has done for the community, including protecting local parks.

Sanchez is serving his last full month in office after losing in a primary election in September.

The event, called “Continuing Legacies: Thank You State Representative Jeffrey Sánchez,” will feature a new play about Frederick Law Olmsted. Ryan Manganelli, a Sanchez aide, will play Olmsted up to age 26 and Gerry Wright will play him up to age 76. There will be a speaking program and reception, and announcements will be made by Olmsted 2022, the A.R.T. Institute, and Friends of Jamaica Pond about two initiatives – the preservation of Hellenic Hill by the Pond and tree planting in the neighborhood.

Wright stop by the Gazette office and offered enthusiastic praise of Sanchez and what he has done for the community.

“Jeffrey Sanchez grew up in the community” said Wright. “He knows the life of the community–the beauty and spirit of the community. He knows how many people don’t have the opportunities other people have. He empowers the impoverished.”
