Holidays in JP: GIVING BACK

On Nov. 28, Zdeno Chara visited Italian Home for Children to kick-off the holiday season of giving. He was accompanied by Blades, the Bruins mascot. “Zee” gifted all of the children in Italian Home’s programs with a new pair of New Balance sneakers and a Boston Bruins Winter Classic hat. New Balance and the Boston Bruins Foundation generously donated the gifts for 120 children in Italian Home’s residential and educational programs.
Chara, the captain of the Boston Bruins, greeted the students and answered questions at Italian Home’s Pallotta Educational Center. The school is located on Italian Home’s JP campus. It is a K-8 school for children with special education needs. The facility is well known for children who experience social, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties that leave them at risk of failure in a less restrictive learning environment.
Since 1919, Italian Home for Children has provided an integrated network of powerful and effective programs to help children and families with emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges thrive in their communities. In 2019, Italian Home will celebrate their 100 year legacy of service. For more information, visit http://www.italianhome.org
