Alison Croney Moses, Associate Director at the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts, has been awarded a $50,000 US Artists Fellowship.

       Eliot School Executive Director Abigail Norman told the Gazette in an email that “Alison is one of five award-winners in the field of craft, among a total of 63 thinkers and makers who represent communities across 23 states and Puerto Rico, spanning every career stage, and illuminating a breadth of artistic practices.”

       Croney Moses founded the Teen Bridge and Artist in Residence programs at the Eliot School, which pair professional artists with local teenagers to create collaborative art projects and experiences.

       In her artist statement, Croney Moses said that she “has worked over the past fifteen years in alternative education settings to build out education programs that center the communities they work with while fulfilling the missions of the institutions. Her work is in the collections at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and elsewhere and has been featured in American Craft Magazine.”

       Croney Moses has an MA in sustainable business in communities from Goddard College, as well as a BFA in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design.

       United States Artists states on their 2022 Fellowship awardees page that “These generative practitioners create objects, movements, narratives, spaces, and contexts that move our culture forward….All of these artists practice across these ways of working—unbound in their thinking and unbound by the status quo.”
