Trash and Recycling
The City of Boston offers several recycling programs. Info: 635-4959.
Curbside Recycling: Every week on regular trash day. If you have two trash days, it’s the first. In the blue bin: glass bottles, tin & aluminum cans, aluminum foil, empty aerosol cans, plastic containers with the recycling symbol and numbers 1-7 on the bottom, milk cartons and juice boxes. Please rinse out all containers before recy-cling. Now accepted: office paper, junk mail, cereal boxes, newspapers, magazines, paperback books, phone books and corrugated cardboard (3’x3’ or less). Put paper prod-ucts in paper bags or tie up with string and place beside blue bin.
Leaf pick-up, collection and composting by city in season. Composting bins. Used Paint and Motor Oil Recycling Centers. Recycling TVs and computer monitors.

Commercial Trash Regulations: No rubbish placed on sidewalks between 7 am and 6 pm; trash may be picked up during those hours, but it must be collected where it is stored; it must be kept in durable containers; dumpsters must be on private property; receptacles returned to storage site immediately following trash pick-up; containers, dumpsters and storage areas must be cleaned after trash pick up; loose trash must be removed from sidewalk. •#48 Jamaica Plain Loop goes around the neighborhood during the day: Centre and South St. follows Centre St. to Paul Gore St. to Chestnut Ave into Jackson Square to Columbus Ave to Amory St. to West Walnut into Egleston Sq. to Washington St. to Green St. back on Amory to Stony Brook Station to Lamartine over to Green St. back to Centre St/Monument Area.
