Thanks to Wilkerson for getting Zamboni back

The Friends of Kelly Rink would like to thank state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson for advocating for the Temporary Kelly Ice Skating Rink behind Stony Brook Station. Because of mechanical problems with several Zambonis in the Boston metro area, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) pulled the Zamboni from the Kelly rink for use at another rink on Feb. 7. Sen. Wilkerson called the Governor’s Office and got our Zamboni back the next day. That ensured that the Saturday morning Learn to Skate Program for 100 children and adults, as well as weekend public skating for hundreds of community young people and adults, was able to go on as scheduled.

We look forward to working with Sen. Wilkerson to get a permanent state-of-the-art Indoor Ice Rink built as part of the Jackson Square Redevelopment Plan.
