Emack’s to get Real Deal

JP CENTER—Emack and Bolio’s at 763 Centre St. will close for renovations on Sunday Nov. 4, and when it re-opens customers will have the option of ordering sandwiches, paninis and thin crust pizza before or after their ice cream.

The ice cream vendor has entered into an agreement with the West Roxbury-based Real Deal Sandwich Shop, said Emack and Bolio’s owner Bob Rook.

The store will still feature Emack and Bolio’s ice cream and confections, and Real Deal will start carrying the ice cream at their West Roxbury store, Rook said.

There are no plans for similar set-ups at other area Emack and Bolio’s locations, Rook said.

“Most of our locations are 200 to 300 square feet,” he said, “But this space is so large and there is such a call for food, I figure the smartest thing to do is bring in an operation that does food and does it well.”

Rook said he does not know how long the renovations will take. “The renovations are on their end, I hope its not a long time. They need to put in grills and a pizza oven and things like that,” he said.
