Grateful for help from community

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the community for helping us through the difficulty our family has recently experienced. As many people know, on May 16, our son Sam was struck by a car while returning home from Boston Latin Academy. He spent two weeks in Boston Medical Center receiving treatment for two broken legs and a broken shoulder. He is now home recovering and is eagerly awaiting his return to the baseball field.

Sam and the rest of our family would like to thank everyone in the JP community who rallied around and supported us through this hard time. From taking care of Sam’s brothers and sisters to making our family meals, our friends made it possible for us to focus on Sam in those early, scary days after the accident.

Although we’ve leaned on many people throughout this experience, there are a few people who we must thank personally: Juan and Jean Leyton-Nolan for organizing meals and their ongoing support, Janet Malone, and Jane and David Akiba for child care and rides to the hospital. We also thank Meridian Academy, Curley K-8 School, JP for 4’s and Boston Latin Academy families for their generosity.

Thanks also to Susan, Lori, Mary Ellen, Steve, Naomi, Buck, Beth, Linda, Frapp, Pito and the list goes on…

It’s times like these that help us appreciate the true meaning of community and how much we love and care for our friends and neighbors.
