Thanks for the elm trees

The Eliot School and the First Church in JP want to thank Terry McCormick for his donation of four young Princeton elms to our yards along Eliot Street. Elms used to define the American landscape before decades of disease took them down. Terry had the generous idea to plant some of the new disease-resistant strains in JP. These grand, lovely trees live up to 200 years and can grow to a height of 100 feet. We are very fortu-nate to receive this thoughtful gift, which will add beauty, shade and oxygen to the neighborhood. As old-growth trees fall to development in Jamaica Plain, we feel privileged to introduce some new trees that will grow to a magnificent height over the centuries. Thanks also to volunteers Wayne Chin, Ed Costello and Robin Radin, who helped plant the trees.
