Gazette Exclusive: Ross considers Congressional run

City Council President Mike Ross is considering a run for Congress if US Rep. Mike Capuano wins this winter’s US Senate election, the Gazette has learned.

Ross is “obviously taking a look…If there was an open [Congressional] seat, we’d take a serious look at it,” campaign spokesperson Deborah Shah said. “We are looking beyond this race and this year.”

Ross is actively supporting the Senate campaign of Capuano, whose 8th Congressional seat includes most of Jamaica Plain. Capuano is seeking to replace the late Edward Kennedy in the Senate seat.

Meanwhile, Ross is running for re-election to his District 8 City Council seat, which includes much of JP’s Hyde Square. He faces Mission Hill activist Oscar Brookins on the Nov. 3 final election ballot.
