Halloween Party and Parade a success

More than 300 children and adults kicked off the Halloween weekend in Jamaica Plain on Oct. 29 with the third annual Connolly Branch Library Halloween Party and Parade. This successful event was made possible thanks to the generosity of the following 24 local merchants and organizations of Hyde/Jackson Square, who provided treats along the parade route: Volunteers of America, Peter J. Hanley, DMD, City Realty, Guardian Healthcare, El Oriental de Cuba, JP Laundry Center, Fat Ram’s Pumpkin Tattoo, Brendan Behan Pub, La Casa de los Regalos, Centre Tailor, Romance Boutique, Vasallo’s Fashion, Del Valle’s Children’s Shop, RV Latinoamericana de Servicios, Tacos El Charro, Hyde Square Task Force, Centre Street Dental Care, Atlantic Travel Agency, Miami Subs, Revolution Bicycle Repair, The Video Underground, Food Wall Chinese Restaurant, Beauty Master Salon and Ultra Beauty Shop.

We are extremely grateful to the Dunkin’ Donuts and Stop & Shop in Hyde/Jackson for contributing food to the event. We would also like to thank our faithful volunteers—Maria Nuñez/Dorothy of Oz; Nereida Martinez/the Hat Lady; Maryetta Doussard/Dr. Seuss; Lisa Ganack; Kristin Shapiro; Ruby Clark; Josselyn Tello and Maria del Carmen Tello. Thank you to Spontaneous Celebrations and its drummers and stilt-walkers, the Curley K-8 Afterschool Program, Azucarín the Clown and Niños del Siglo Magazine.

We look forward to strengthening these community collaborations in the future.
