Thanks for fantastic support

I want to thank the entire community—my neighbors, my friends, customers and government officials—for their fantastic support following the deadly violence that took place at my restaurant the evening of Nov. 21.

My heart goes out to the families and friends of the deceased.

On the following Wednesday, 4,000 customers came in between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Many, many people attended a special lunch that day before Thanksgiving that was organized by Neighbors for Neighbors.

I especially want to thank staff of the Mayor’s Office, many of whom visited and stayed to be of help after the incident. I so much appreciated that the next evening after he returned from his trip, Mayor Thomas Menino himself came in and ordered two pizzas.

The Boston Police have been wonderful. They have kept a presence at the restaurant for days, making sure everything was handled right.

State representatives Liz Malia and Jeff Sánchez were very helpful. City Councilor Felix Arroyo and Councilor-elect Matt O’Malley spent time here, as well, offering their friendship and help. Long-time friend and elected official Maura Hennigan was here a lot and so supportive during this time.

Last but not least, I also want to thank my loyal staff who enabled me to keep the restaurant open.

Wishing the entire community happy holidays.
