Actor Henry Winkler, famous for his role as Fonzie on the 1970s TV comedy “Happy Days,” will visit Faulkner Hospital on April 13 for a more serious mission: speaking to a stroke support group about his experience as a patient caregiver.

Winkler was a caregiver for his mother, Ilsa, who lost hand and arm mobility after suffering a stroke in 1989.

“Having Mr. Winkler come to speak to other stroke survivors and caregivers will help people understand that they are not alone in this process,” said Faulkner speech pathologist Kennis Bishop in a press statement.

Winkler’s appearance is open to anyone with an interest in strokes and will be focused on people who provide care to stroke survivors.

The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the second-floor Atrium I and II of the hospital at 1153 Centre St. For more information, contact Bishop at 617-983-4498 or [email protected].
