HUNTINGTON SQ.—An MBTA Green Line trolley derailed on S. Huntington Avenue on April 13, halting service for about five hours.
The trolley only partially derailed and no one was injured. The trolley had “minimal damage,” according to MBTA spokesperson Lydia Rivera.
The trolley left the tracks around 9:30 a.m. while traveling inbound near the Huntington Avenue intersection. The derailment appeared to be caused by a dislodged rubber seal that sits between the rail and the pavement, according to Rivera.
The track, pavement and trolley wires were repaired the same day. “All equipment has been inspected,” and no further delays related to the incident are expected, Rivera said.
