Hennigan seeks 2nd court clerk term

Maura Hennigan, a Jamaica Plain resident and the clerk of the Suffolk County Superior Court for Criminal Business, will seek a second six-year term in office in 2012.

Hennigan kicked off the campaign and celebrated her 60th birthday at a West Roxbury party earlier this month. She has no announced challengers.

The clerk oversees all of the staff members who make the courts run. Hennigan also hosts a TV show on the Egleston Square-based Boston Neighborhood Network that suggests resources for crime victims and people at risk of becoming involved in crime.

While having her staffing level cut in half during her first term, Hennigan said that she sees it as “an opportunity to do more with less.”

Hennigan, who lives in Jamaica Hills, was the longtime district and at-large Boston city councilor for JP. She is known for her daily runs around Jamaica Pond, which she has been doing for years.

Hennigan, a Democrat, is getting an early start. The primary election will be in September, 2012.
