Fake cabbie steals phone

JACKSON SQ.—A phony cab driver stole a man’s cell phone when he refused a ride at Centre Street and Columbus Avenue on March 18, according to the Boston Police Department.

The victim was attempting to get a cab ride home around 3 a.m. when he was approached by the suspect, who identified himself as a “gypsy,” or unlicensed, cab driver. When the victim declined an offer of a cab ride, the suspect became angry, grabbed the victim’s phone, and fled the area on foot.
