FOREST HILLS—Tonic, the long-awaited restaurant and bar at 3698 Washington St., opened its doors on April 14.

Tonic is described as an “affordably ‘upscale’ neighborhood haunt” in a press release announcing the opening.

The head chef is Ryan Kelly, formerly of Jamaica Plain’s Canary Square restaurant and downtown’s Haru Sushi and Clio. His menu features “family-friendly American favorites with a global flair,” particularly Japanese and French influences, according to the press release.

Drinks include “craft cocktails,” sangria, a selected wine list and a rotating selection of 10 craft beers.

Owner Croan McCormack has worked for more than a year to bring the new restaurant the former Griffin’s bar location across from the Forest Hills T Station.

Tonic will be open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. For more information, call 617-522-4780 or see tonicboston.com.
