Q Salon opens doors

CENTRAL JP—Q Salon opened its doors in late May at 676 Centre St., the space formerly occupied by Jamaicaway Books.

Q Salon, named after owner Jennifer Lydon’s middle name and grandmother’s maiden name, Quinlan—“We were very close,” she said—is currently offering hair services.

Nail services are expected to start next week and spa services are on hold until construction is completed downstairs, likely in early September, Lydon said.

“The spa will be much more serene, quiet, like you’re in a totally different space,” she added.

Lydon emphasized that Q Salon is able to accommodate all types and ethnicities of hair. She is still hiring stylists.

“Hopefully every chair will be staffed and buzzing away,” Lyson said.

Lydon had previously told the Gazette that she hoped to open late last autumn and blames unexpected construction and permitting issues for the delay.

“I’m just glad to be finally open,” she said.
