Letter: Warren is the education candidate

With the Congress finally having approved a measure to freeze federal student loan interest rates at 3.4 percent for the next year, students must now demand what the next step will be in making college more affordable and accessible to people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Elizabeth Warren, Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, is the only candidate who understands that a sustainable economic future will require increased investment in education. As such, she supports renewed allocations towards vocational training and community college to ensure that all Americans can follow a post-secondary educational path. Elizabeth stands with President Obama, who recently affirmed in a White House speech, “Higher education cannot be a luxury reserved for the privileged few. It is an economic necessity.”

If we wish to see the president’s blueprint for an economy built to last come to fruition, we must consider which candidate has a proven track record of supporting public education. For Massachusetts, that candidate is Elizabeth Warren.
