Latvian church condo conversion approved

The city’s Zoning Board of Appeals has approved the redevelopment of the former Jamaica Plain Latvian Lutheran Church at 98 Rockview St. into three condos.

“The project was just approved” on Oct. 23, Robert Allan, attorney for the project, told the Gazette last week.

In the next few months, owner Dennis Coghlan will prepare and submit his plans for the project to the City for building permits, Allan said.

There is no construction schedule at the moment, Allan added.

The project requires zoning relief for the basement-level unit and its entrance; the size of the yard, an existing zoning violation that would need re-approval; and two new dormers, windows that poke out of the sloped roof.

The near-century-old building sits on a 6,500-square-foot lot and will be redeveloped into one basement-level unit and two duplex units.
