Jamaica Plain’s Centre/South Main Streets (CSMS), a business promotion organization, has regained its status as a nonprofit corporation and has hired an interim executive director, according to a CSMS board member.
CSMS has also reacquired its former office space over City Feed and Supply at 670 Centre St. The organization had moved to shared space in Q Salon after financial trouble last year.
Mary Hannon, a board member and real estate agent, said CSMS has filed all the necessary paperwork with the state and has regained its status as a nonprofit corporation as of Jan. 31. CSMS had its status revoked by the state last June after not filing a legally required annual report since 2001, as previously reported by the Gazette.
She also said that CSMS has hired Katie Reed as an interim executive director. Reed, a JP resident, has held that position with other Main Streets programs, including Hyde/Jackson Square Main Street.
“We are well on our way to rebuilding,” said Hannon. “We are very excited.”
CSMS, which recently sent out a survey requesting input on the organization and its First Thursday events, held a “meet and greet” for potential new board members on Feb. 4. Hannon said more than 20 people showed up for the “meet and greet.”
