Curley principal resigns

The principal of the Curley K-8 School at 40 Pershing Road will not return to the school following vacation week.

Principal Jeff Slater announced his impending move to California with a letter to Curley parents posted on the Curley School blog April 5. His last day will be Friday, April 12.

According to the letter, he is leaving for a “leadership position” out west.

“It has been a joy to serve with you in such a wonderful and fulfilling school setting, and I know every one of you has a bright future ahead,” he wrote in the letter.

“We’re sorry to see him go. He’s a great principal,” Boston Public Schools (BPS) spokesperson Lee Maguire told the Gazette this week.

Former Curley Principal Mirna Vega-Wilson will be the interim principal while BPS looks for a permanent replacement, Slater wrote in the letter.
