CSMS trash cans missing; replacements on the way

Half a dozen sidewalk trash cans bought by Centre/South Main Streets (CSMS) about five years ago have gone missing after being delivered to the City for installation.

While City Department of Public Works (DPW) spokesperson Tim McCarthy could not locate the exact bins purchased by CSMS, he did say that DPW had those same style trash cans in stock. He told the Gazette he would try to arrange a tour of the corridor with Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services representative Jullieanne Doherty this week to get the installation process started.

According to Jamaica Plain resident Michael Epp, CSMS the decorative trash cans to replace City cans that had been damaged. Epp was a member of the CSMS board at the time.

CSMS came up with a plan for installation locations and the cans were delivered to the City for installation, Epp said.

CSMS is a business promotion organization, one of three active in JP.
