Turner to be released from prison

Former City Councilor Chuck Turner expects to be released from federal prison to a halfway house in Boston by next week, he said in an email to various contacts, including the Gazette.

Turner, who formerly represented part of Jamaica Plain, was convicted in 2009 of taking a $1,000 bribe from an FBI informant and lying to investigators about it. He has long claimed to be innocent. He has been in a West Virginia prison since 2011. As the Gazette previously reported, in May he started a social justice blog called “Chuck Turner Analysis” at chuckturneranalysis.wordpress.com.
