Four-alarm blaze hits JP house

FOREST HILLS—A four-alarm fire ripped through a two-family house at the corner of Asticou Road and South Street on Aug. 17, causing an estimated $350,000 in damage, according to the Boston Fire Department (BFD).

The house has two addresses, 306 South St. and 39 Asticou Road.

Officials determined that the careless disposal of a cigarette lit a couch on the first-floor porch on fire and it spread from there, according to BFD.

Two firefighters were treated and released from local hospitals—one firefighter with a leg injury and the other with facial burns. No other injuries were reported. The fire displaced six adults, according to BFD.

A fundraising website has been set up for one victim of the fire, Patricia Adams. According to the website, she is a 50-year resident of the home. For more information, visit fundraise.com and search “Pattie Adams House Fire Fund.”
