Burglaries hit Jamaica Plain area

The Boston Police Department (BPD) is investigating a series of residential burglaries that have happened this week in Jamaica Plain and the surrounding area, according to bpdnews.com.

Police responded to two burglaries yesterday in Jamaica Plain, the first around 12:07 a.m. at 32 Mozart St. and the second about 5:50 p.m. at 82 Jamaica St. In both instances, suspect or suspects entered through a window and stole property.

Three other burglaries have been reported in Roslindale and West Roxbury yesterday and Tuesday.

Some basic tips to prevent burglary: Always lock your doors and windows; secure sliding glass doors with locks or broomsticks; keep valuables out of sight; do not leave tools, ladders, lawn furniture, crates, etc. outside for criminals to use to break in; do not hide house keys outside; keep shrubbery and trees trimmed back; keep outside lights on; keep an inventory of valuable items, including serial numbers; consider purchasing an alarm system; when away, put lights and radios on timers, keep window shades in normal positions, and halt mail delivery.
